The Diocese is sponsoring 204 Primary Schools; that’s 197 Public Primary schools and 8 Private Primary Schools; Six (6) Secondary Schools and 3 Private Secondary Schools, 3 Back to school centres in Lodwar, Kakuma and Lokichoggio, Three Hundred and Seventy (370) ECDE-Nursery Schools and two Training Institute in Kakuma. Besides these, the Diocese of Lodwar has set up 6 institutions of especial education; i.e.: Nadirkonyen Centre-Lodwar, St. Luke Home for the deaf-Lodwar, Ewoi Centre for especial children-Lodwar, John Paul II Centre for physically challenge-Lokichar, St. Patrick Nomadic Girls Centre-Lokitaung and Katilu integrated school for the blind.
The diocese has a total of 422 Nursery schools some of which have been closed down since there is no support to make them continue running. The Nurseries program therefore was formed under the Education department to oversee the running and management of the nursery schools for the diocese. The program currently manages 37 nursery schools in the diocese because these are the only actively run schools. There are also other nursery schools which are run and managed by the Missionary Community of Saint Paul(MCSPA). However, Mary’s Meals are willing to expand the program by adding more schools in partnership with the diocese. This will help the diocese to reopen other schools which have been closed down.
